MPL’s Mobile Library App
The mobile app makes it quick and easy to access Milton Public Library on the go! Search the Milton Public Library’s catalogue, download items, manage your account and find suggested reading instantly with your device.
Milton Public Library has updated its library system and mobile app to provide a better experience for our users. As part of this update, some users may be logged out off the app after updating.
To continue using the app, you will need to log in again with your library card barcode and PIN.
What You Need to Do:
- Before Updating: Note down your library card barcode somewhere safe so you can easily log in after updating the app.
- After Updating: If you are logged out, simply enter your library card barcode and PIN to regain access.
If You Don’t Have Your Barcode:
- Contact us at (905) 875-2665 or visit any MPL branch near you to retrieve your barcode.
- Verification is required before we can provide your barcode. This is the same process as retrieving a lost library card number.
Mobile App Features
| eCard | Your e-Card will be saved on the app for quick and easy access – you will no longer need to carry your physical card. You can also add your card to the Apple or Google Wallet. |

| Mobile Self-Checkout | All Milton Public Library cardholders can now use the MPL Mobile App to check out items. Mobile Self Checkout is an easy, fast way to borrow books from the Library. You can use your smartphone, tablet, or iPad to check out items anywhere in the Milton Public Library. To use it, you must enable MPL Location in your device’s settings: Setting>Location Services>MPL>Select while using the App OR Always. |
| Manage your Account | Keep track of your account with dynamic notifications and view your checked-out items, holds, fines and account information. |
| Link Accounts | Ideal for busy families, this feature allows you to link library accounts so that you can keep track of everyone's checked out items, holds and fines--all on one screen. Use "My Account/Linked Accounts” to add/remove a Library Card. |

How do I borrow items using the MPL Mobile App?
All Milton Public Library cardholders can now use the MPL Mobile App to check out items.
Mobile Self Checkout is an easy, fast way to borrow books from the Library. You can use your smartphone, tablet, or iPad to check out items anywhere in the Milton Public Library.
To borrow items:
- Download the MPL Mobile App to your smartphone, tablet or iPad
- Open the app and sign in with your MPL credentials
- Select Mobile Self Checkout and the account if appropriate
- Scan item barcodes and you are done (Item barcodes have “Milton Public Library” printed at the top)
- Mobile Self-Checkout will email you a receipt with due dates
Please remember to location services turned on and have the camera enabled on your device to scan barcodes.
