In Canada, people who have recently left another country to settle here are commonly referred to as newcomers to Canada.

As a newcomer to Canada, there are many important steps you need to take to assist with your transition into Canadian life. Milton Public Library, in collaboration with our community partners, offers a wide arrange of services to help you find everything you need to know to make your transition easier. Services can be accessed with a library card.

Come meet new people and build your confidence speaking English.

This program is delivered by volunteers from the Halton Multicultural Council in partnership with the Milton Public Library.

Interested participants can register on the programme calendar.

Are you new to Canada? Do you have a question for The Centre for Skills? Milton Public Library can connect you!

For example, you might need a Commissioner of Oaths to apply for a passport, verify your foreign language transcripts, sign official documents, and more. These services are being delivered virtually to eligible individuals at this time.

Book an appointment to speak one-on-one with someone from The Centre. They are here to help you. 30 minute virtual appointments are available on Tuesday afternoons, on a bi-weekly basis.

A Settlement Worker can help you start your new life in Canada. Settlement services are delivered by the Halton Multicultural Council in partnership with Milton Public Library.

All in-person services at Milton Public Library are cancelled until further notice. If you need help from a Settlement Worker, please call Halton Multicultural Council at 905-464-3222.
