In Canada, people who have recently left another country to settle here are commonly referred to as newcomers to Canada.
As a newcomer to Canada, there are many important steps you need to take to assist with your transition into Canadian life. Milton Public Library, in collaboration with our community partners, offers a wide arrange of services to help you find everything you need to know to make your transition easier. Services can be accessed with a library card.

Are you new to Canada? Do you have a question for The Centre for Skills? Milton Public Library can connect you!
For example, you might need a Commissioner of Oaths to apply for a passport, verify your foreign language transcripts, sign official documents, and more. These services are being delivered virtually to eligible individuals at this time.
Book an appointment to speak one-on-one with someone from The Centre. They are here to help you. 30 minute virtual appointments are available on Tuesday afternoons, on a bi-weekly basis.
A Settlement Worker can help you start your new life in Canada. Settlement services are delivered by the Halton Multicultural Council in partnership with Milton Public Library.
All in-person services at Milton Public Library are cancelled until further notice. If you need help from a Settlement Worker, please call Halton Multicultural Council at 905-464-3222.
