Interlibrary Loans

We are delighted to announce that the ILLO service is now available once again for our patrons!

What is an Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan is a service that enables the borrowing of items from other libraries that are not in the Milton Public Library collection.

How can I request an item through Interlibrary Loan?

There are two options to request items through Interlibrary Loan:

Patron Initiated Interlibrary Loan

Patron Initiated Interlibrary Loan puts you in the driver's seat to locate and place holds on print materials from libraries around Ontario.

If you are a first time user, please review our Getting Started Guide PDF File.

Once your account has been created, begin your search with Zportal.

Staff Assisted Interlibrary Loan

Visit or contact the library about your request. An Information Services staff member will assist you.

You may also submit an online Interlibrary Loan request that staff will action on your behalf. You may request print materials.

If you have a microfilm request, please contact an Information Services staff member.

Interlibrary Loan Exceptions

Some items are not available through Interlibrary Loan such as material published within the last year, reference material, school textbooks and most audio/visual material (including DVDs, CDs, Audiobooks, and CD-ROMS). If you are seeking material within these categories or microfilm, please contact our Information Services department.
