These playful Coding Critters bring early STEAM concepts to preschool learning through 100% screen-free coding. Children code along to the critters’ storybook adventure, which unfolds in the Coding Critters’ fun playset. As children follow along to the storybook, they’ll code the critters to solve STEAM challenges and build new skills. In addition to following along with the storybook’s coding challenges, you can also use the critter playset to design your own code games and more! Check one out today.

Kits
These sensory kits contain an assortment of items which are designed to reduce stress and anxiety, stimulate learning, and provide comfort during library visits. They have been designed with the assistance of the Halton Youth Disability Advisory Council and with funding from the Libraries and Autism: We’re All Welcome Here grant. They have been created with the goal of celebrating neurodiversity and making Milton Public Library more accessible to its patrons. There is no correct way to use the items in the kit, so feel free to get creative. Please note that this kit is not a toy box but rather a tool for neurodiverse families to enjoy library visits. MPL’s Cognitive Care Kits help support the skills and abilities of people living with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment. Each kit contains up to ten unique, dementia-friendly activities such as games, workbooks, puzzles, and various prepared activities. The kits focus on the mind (cognitive), body (active), and spirit (creative), and were developed using the DementiAbility Montessori principles, proven to effectively engage with individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
