Hoopla lets you borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital music, films, tv series, and comics to stream, cast to your TV, or download to your device.

Content available on hoopla: 

  • eBooks and audiobooks for children, teens and adults 
  • Movies, including feature films, documentaries, and children’s movies 
  • TV shows, including educational programs and kids’ shows 
  • Music in a wide variety of genres 
  • Comics and graphic novels for children, teens and adults 

Please note: hoopla has borrowing limitations and Milton Library cardholders can borrow a maximum of 10 items per month. Your borrowing limit automatically resets when a new month begins.

What you need

  • A hoopla account 
  • Internet connection and a digital device to stream or download content 
  • The hoopla app for iOS or Android if you prefer to access through a smartphone or tablet  

How to Access

  1. Access hoopla in your web browser or in the app for iOS or Android. 
  2. Click on the Get Started button. 
  3. Choose Milton Public Library from the dropdown menu and click Next. 
  4. Enter your library card number with no spaces and PIN. Agree to the terms and conditions and click Next.  
  5. Enter your email address and password to complete your registration.

Frequently asked questions

Patrons can borrow 10 items from hoopla every month. The borrowing limits reset on the first day of the month.

 

  • eBooks and Audiobooks: 21 days

  • Comics and graphic novels: 21 days 
  • BingePass: 7 days 

Yes, all borrowed items will automatically be returned at the end of the borrowing period.  

No, borrow limits do not carry over into the following month. You can borrow 10 items per month and each month your limit resets.  

A BingePass allows for unlimited streaming of select content for 7 days. Borrowing a BingePass counts as one checkout. 

A BingePass may grant access to content outside of Hoopla. In this case, you will be taken to the content provider’s website and signed in automatically. 

No you cannot directly download or read eBooks from Hoopla on a Kobo or Kindle eReader. To download books on your Kobo eReader, you can explore our eBook/eAudiobook platform OverDrive.

To update or change library settings on hoopla: 

hoopla website or iOS app: 

  • Log in and click or tap the Settings icon. 
  • Click or tap Library Settings. 
  • Confirm you have selected your library system. 
  • Re-enter your library card number and PIN. (Note: your PIN is typically the last 4 digits of your phone number) 
  • Click or tap Save. 

hoopla Android app: 

  • Log in and tap the Settings icon. 
  • Scroll down to Library and confirm you have selected your library system. 
  • Re-enter your library card number and PIN. 
  • Tap Enter on your keyboard (depending on your device, this might display as Done or a checkmark or something similar)
